Privacy policy
This English version is provided for accessibility and information. In the event of discrepancies, the German privacy policy is the authoritative version.
1. Privacy at a glance
General information
This policy explains which personal data are processed when you visit fewo-selent.de or contact us. Personal data are information that can identify you directly or indirectly.
How do we collect data?
We receive data when you provide them through the enquiry form, by email or by phone. The web server also processes technically necessary connection data when pages are requested.
Why do we process data?
We process data to provide a secure and reliable website, answer enquiries and prepare, perform or administer a possible booking. We do not use our own analytics or marketing tracking services.

The controller determines the purposes and means of processing personal data.
3. Hosting by IONOS
This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. When you access the website, IONOS processes technically necessary access data. These may include the requested page or file, referring URL, browser type and version, operating system, device type, time of access and an IP address.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure, stable and technically correct delivery of the website. See the IONOS privacy information. IONOS processes data under contractual data-processing arrangements in accordance with Article 28 GDPR.
Server logs
The hosting provider may record access in server logs for security and troubleshooting. We do not combine these logs with other sources. According to IONOS, web-hosting visitor data are generally retained for eight weeks; the precise implementation may depend on the hosting plan.
4. Legal bases
- Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for pre-contractual steps and booking administration;
- Article 6(1)(c) GDPR for legal obligations;
- Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for legitimate interests such as secure website operation and answering general enquiries;
- Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where we expressly request consent.
5. Contact and enquiry forms
When you use an enquiry form, we process arrival and departure dates, number of guests, name, phone number, email address and message. Cruise enquiries may include ship and cruise dates. Business enquiries may include company name, billing address and assignment details. For an enquiry connected with a clinic visit, you may voluntarily state the reason in your message; medical information is not required for an accommodation enquiry.
We use these data only to answer availability or booking enquiries, contact you and, where applicable, prepare an accommodation agreement. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. General enquiries are processed under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Delivery and technical backup
The form transmits the enquiry to our web server over an encrypted connection. It is then sent through an authenticated, encrypted SMTP connection to the IONOS mailbox kontakt@fewo-selent.de. A protected copy may also be stored in a non-public server area so enquiries and delivery errors remain traceable.
Required fields are necessary to assess dates, occupancy and how to contact you. Without them, we cannot handle the enquiry through the form.
6. Email and phone contact
If you contact us by email or phone, we process your contact details and message. Booking-related contact is processed under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; other requests are processed under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Despite technical safeguards, email cannot guarantee complete protection against third-party access. Do not send particularly sensitive information through the form or unencrypted email.
7. Recipients and disclosure
Recipients are generally only the people responsible for FeWo Selent and processors used to provide the technical service, particularly IONOS as hosting and email provider.
We disclose data only where necessary to perform a contract, comply with law, protect a legitimate interest or where another legal basis applies. We do not sell personal data or disclose them for third-party advertising.
8. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as required for its purpose. Enquiries that do not result in a booking are erased once they have been handled and no legitimate reason for continued storage remains.
If a booking is made, contractual and billing records may be retained for longer under statutory commercial and tax obligations. Applicable limitation and record-keeping periods remain unaffected. Server and backup copies may be erased after a technical delay.
9. Cookies, tracking and local content
This website does not set its own cookies or store identifiers in your browser's local storage. We do not use Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel or similar analytics and marketing tools. A consent banner is therefore not currently required.
Images, fonts, stylesheets and scripts are served locally from our own web space. No fonts are loaded from Google Fonts or similar external font servers.
10. External links
The cruise page links to our partner parkplatz-kiel.de. The page for relatives and family visitors also links to the official website of Rehaklinik Selenter See. These are normal external links; no content from either provider is embedded.
Only when you click a link do you leave fewo-selent.de. The external provider then processes technically necessary connection data and any information you enter there. The provider is responsible for that processing; please read its privacy information.
11. SSL/TLS encryption
This website uses HTTPS and SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” and the lock symbol in your browser's address bar.
12. Your rights
Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, withdrawal of consent for the future and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact kontakt@fewo-selent.de to exercise your rights.
Right to object under Article 21 GDPR
Where processing is based on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you may object at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation. You may always object to processing for direct marketing.
13. Right to complain
You may lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority if you believe that processing infringes the GDPR. The competent authority for private organisations in Schleswig-Holstein is the Independent State Centre for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein. You may also contact an authority at your habitual residence, workplace or the location of the alleged infringement.
14. Objection to advertising email
We object to the use of contact details published as part of legal disclosure requirements for unsolicited advertising and information materials.
15. Updates
We update this policy when the website, services or legal requirements change.
